The Dorcas Room is open the first Saturday and the third Thursday of each month.
Saturday’s hours are from 8:30 am to 10:00 am and Thursday’s hours are from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
Acts 9:36-42 is the scriptural statement for the Dorcas Room.
“Now in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which translated in Greek is called Dorcas); this woman was abounding with deeds of kindness and charity which she continually did. And it happened at that time that she fell sick and died; and when they had washed her body, they laid it in an upper room. Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him, “Do not delay in coming to us.” So Peter arose and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the upper room; and all the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing all the tunics and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them. But Peter sent them all out and knelt down and prayed, and turning to the body, he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up. And he gave her his hand and raised her up; and calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive. It became known all over Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.”

Fellowship Connections
- Women’s Ministry
Our Women’s Ministry is about encouraging women to connect, grow, and serve with the LORD.
The greatest challenge most of us face is getting “unstuck” from where we are in life and to take God at His Word and believe that He wants to do an Ephesians 3:20 work in our lives: “above and beyond all that we ask or think”. Our desire is to face this head-on and see God’s glory.
If you are looking for a place to grow or serve see Rhonda Mayo (), Patricia McGee or Kim Adams.Rhonda Mayo
- Deacon Ministry
The Deacon Ministry of our church has a great desire to serve the body. They minister to the body through the Deacon Family Ministry Plan. Each deacon is assigned part of the fellowship to minister to and through these growing connections, the body is drawn together and built up.

- Music Ministry
The music ministry at First Baptist Church, Greenbrier, consists of a fully graded choir program from preschool through senior adults, a handbell choir, an instrumental ensemble and a praise band. We seek to use the musical gifts and talents the Lord has given us to lift His name in praise and inspire our congregation to join together in worship.
The Sanctuary Choir is very active in our church and community, preparing seasonal cantatas and pageants, in addition to inspiring, Sunday-morning anthems. They also sing in community services for Thanksgiving and “The Turning of the Pig” (a pre-Fourth of July celebration), as well as on an award-winning float in the Fourth of July parade.
The Youth and Children’s choirs combine to present musicals for Christmas and Easter. The Pre-School Choir often joins the Children’s Choir when they perform these musicals and sing for Sunday-morning services. The Senior Adult Choir rehearses every Wednesday morning and sings monthly at a local assisted-living facility. They also contribute to worship by occasionally serving as the Sunday evening choir and combining with the Sanctuary Choir.
There are a variety of opportunities for instrumental musicians to contribute to worship at First Baptist. The church owns a four-octave set of Schulmerich handbells and has a Handbell Choir the plays regularly for services. “Fife & Brass” is the name of the church’s instrumental ensemble. This group is currently made up of two flute and five brass players, hence the name. They rehearse weekly and also play regularly in services. The Praise Band features guitar, bass guitar, electronic drums and keyboard. They play for some services and are one of the featured groups in the “Sunday Evenings on the Green” concert series. This series is presented for five weeks in July every summer and features home and guest groups on a stage out on the church grounds. The church and community are invited to bring lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of music, recreation and fellowship.
If you sing or play an instrument, we have a place for you in the music ministry at First Baptist Church!

Dr. Fred Baldwin
In July of 2006, a group from First Baptist Church went on a music missions trip to Alpena, Michigan. They ministered to two Southern Baptist churches in the Alpena area through evangelistic concerts performed at each church and local retirement homes, and through visitation and outreach activities. At the concert at Hubbard Lake Baptist Church, it was estimated that 80% of the audience were visitors. The concert at Thunder Bay Baptist Church was in the form of a block party with the help of the Northland Baptist Association, who provided a giant inflatable slide and jumping room. Members of the First Baptist team also performed with the Alpena City Band, opening up an opportunity to announce the block party and share flyers with the large number of people attending their annual children’s concert. A return trip in July of 2007 is anticipated. Musicians, singers and non-singers are invited to take part in this exciting endeavor.
