About Us
“The purpose of the First Baptist Church of Greenbrier is to glorify the Lord our God through worship, evangelism, discipleship, ministry, and fellowship.”
At the heart of fulfilling our purpose statement is a strong desire to glorify God in all aspects of our church’s work, whether it be through worship, evangelism, discipleship, ministry, or fellowship.
Worship services at First Baptist Church function to acknowledge the worth and majesty of God and to challenge us to be Christ like in our everyday lives. Come join us for our Worship Service at 10:00 am on Sundays. For children ages three through grade three, First Baptist provides a Children’s Church during Sunday Morning Worship Service. In addition, there are Extended Sessions for Preschoolers ages birth through two years old during the morning worship service. Nursery is also provided for Sunday Evening Worship service and Wednesday night Prayer Meeting. Evening Worship Service has unique personality with a strong emphsis on the deeper study of God’s Word. We begin at 6:00 pm in the sanctuary. (Please see our web site calendar for any variations in the Sunday Evening schedule.)
Evangelism is fostered through a variety of means at First Baptist Church. Sunday School carries a major emphasis on evangelism and provides a time set aside to study God’s Word in an environment of mutual support, encouragement, and accountability.
The key purpose of Discipleship is to grow from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity. Greenbrier FBC provides a variety of Discipleship Training classes that are offered on both Wednesday and Sunday evenings. (Please see web site calendar for specific studies.)
Our Music Ministry plays an important role in our worship services. Sanctuary Choir is open to all adults and is utilized during our Sunday Morning Worship Service. The choir meets for rehearsal on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary. Preschool/Children’s Choirs meet during the school year on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. and include the following age groups: Preschool; Children, Grades 1-3; Children, Grades 4-5. In addition youth participate in special retreats, conferences, monthly activities, summer programs, and mission projects. Youth activities and programs are planned in large part through input from a Youth Council made up of youth representatives. The Men’s, Women’s and Single’s Ministries at FBC all function to build better relationships with God and with members of the respective ministry. Helping one another grow through these ministries is a vital function of our church body. For more information, please click on the links above.
The purpose of the Wednesday night Prayer Meeting at 6:30 pm is to provide a dedicated time for the church family to gather, first to become informed of specific prayer needs of individuals of the church family, the lost, and the work of the church; secondly, to spend time in prayer; thirdly, to declare the realization of answered prayers.
